Writing a Persuasive Essay
A persuasive essay is used to convince someone else of a particular point of view. For your essay, you will choose one of the following: Lexington and Concord, Bunker Hill, Trenton, Saratoga, Valley Forge, Battle of Cowpens, or Yorktown--as the most important to the Revolutionary War. You will use your essay to support your choice that this event was the most important.
Your essay should include:
Introductory Paragraph
-Including a sentence that states your position
Body Paragraphs
-at least 3 paragraphs
-each paragraph should focus on a piece of evidence that supports your position
-each paragraph should contain supporting details for your position (explain how or why this evidence supports your claim)
Closing Paragraph
-Restates your position
-summarizes the reasons for your position (the information included in your body paragraphs)
